Japanese traditional breakfast “Tamagoyaki”

This picture is one of Japanese traditional breakfast. Many people eat rice, soup and some side dish. For example, they eat fish or Tamagoyaki and so on. This Japanese breakfast is not only tasty. It is good for health! Rice has carbohydrate, and fish and soup are receive enough food. Then Tamagoyaki has a lot of vitamin D. In addition, that has the function to get rid of cholesterol. You have to eat it every day, because eggs are really good for health.So today, I am going to tell you about how to make Tamagoyaki. I found nice movie in YouTube.

As you saw it, this is how to make Tamaoyaki. I  am going to review it.

You need…
・4 eggs
・green onions
・imitation crab meat
・some salt and pepper for seasoning

It is really easy to cook :)

I could make it by myself! I didn’t put the green onion and imitation crab meat, but it was good. I loved it. I like to eat Tamagoyaki with little bit salt and a lot of ketchup. So I put much ketchup after I have taken pictures. You don’t need to follow a recipe to the letter. You can cook to follow your own recipes. So, which seasonings do you like the most?

And what shaped Tamagoyaki do you cook often? I think many people know how to make normal Tamagoyaki, but I think you didn’t know how to make heart shaped it! Sometimes, I make it for my mother’s bag lunch. It becomes pretty looking. So, it is good for making cute lunch too.

Juicy Steamed Dumplings

China.org.cn says that “Chinese style breakfast is Yam Cha, or Dim Sum which are popular in Chinatowns around the world. Yam cha is what Chinese people in particular do if they go out for breakfast in the early morning”. Sometime I make Yam Cha with my mom. I love my Yam Cha time. Because we can talk lose all concept of time. By the way, do you know “Yam Cha” mean exactly? Yam is written “飲” in Chinese character. It means drinking. Cha is “茶” in Chinese. It means tea. Therefore, Yam Cha means drinking tea. However sometimes Yam Cha is not only mean drinking tea. Many Chinese people drink tea with some Chinese traditional foods. For example, they eat steamed meat bun, dumpling and so on. So today, I am going to introduce about one of most famous Yam Cha;

Juicy Steamed Dumplings!

It is the most famous food to eat with Yam cha :)

You need…

4 1/2 (500 g) cups flour, sifted
1 lb (500 g) lean boneless pork, minced
4 tsp soy sauce
1/2 tsp rice wine
1/2 tsp fresh ginger, chopped
2 tsp salt, or to taste
1/2 tsp sugar
4 oz (125 ml) sesame oil
1/2 tsp MSG (optional)

Directions:

1. Mix the pork with the soy sauce, rice wine, ginger, MSG, salt, and sugar.

Stir in one direction until it becomes a paste. Stir in the sesame oil and mix well.

 
 
 
 
 
 

 

 

 

 

 

2. Add 9 oz (250 ml) of cold water gradually to the flour and mix into a dough.

Let rest. Turn out onto a flour board and knead until firm and elastic.

You need to mix a lot!

 

 

 

3. Knead the dough again and cut into 1/2 oz (15 g) balls.

Flatten each ball lightly with your hand, then roll out each piece into a

3 inch (7 to 8 cm) circle, rotating the dough counter-clockwise while rolling

so the centre is slightly thicker than the edges.

4.Place about 1 to 1 1/2 tbsp (20 g) of filling on each circle

and pinch the edges together into 18 pleats. Place the dumpling

in a steamer and steam for 5 minutes over high heat.

It’s done :)

MY NOTE: You need mix a lot until firm and elastic at 2nd step.

It takes about only 30 minutes to cook. It is taste good if you cook it at the night time. So, you can eat it in the morning if you don’t have much time. When you do that, You should put in microwave about 1 minute. In this time, I made it with my mom’s help, and it was sooo delicious. And it’s easy to make! Try it!!! I am sure you will love this.

Barley Tea of Korean Style

I know that many people in Korea, they drink some fresh juice in the morning for traditionally, because my Korean friend told me it before. Many people thought all Koreans are eating kimch for every meal, but that is not exactly true. Today, Korean peoples are drinking health juice for breakfast. So, today, I am going to tell you how to make this juice.

What you need is…

  • ounces barley – roasted
  • 1 and 1/2 pints water
  • honey – to taste
  • lemon juice – to taste

How to make it…

  1. To roast the barley, heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add barley. Stirring constantly, cook until barley becomes golden brown and fragrent.
  2. In a medium-sized sauce pan, bring barley and water to a boil.
  3. Reduce heat, cover pan and allow tea to simmer for at least five minutes.
  4. Strain through cheesecloth, leaving the liquid as your tea.
  5. Add honey and lemon juice to your liking.

In Korea, this tea is called Horicha. It’s often served cold at breakfast.

Do you know about what East Asian people eat for traditional breakfast? For example do you know what Chinese people eat for breakfast? Actually, I do not and I guess you do not too! Here, we will collect information, links, and videos of the best East Asian breakfast. Hopefully we will have plenty of helpful comments, too, from readers like you. Have you ever find something like these interesting topics on other blogs? I am sure, you can enjoy this blog. I will search breakfasts of China, Korea, Russia and Japan. Then I will try to cook it. In China, they eat Boiled Dumplings (Jiao Zi). As for Korea, I will introduce about Korean people’s favorite morning drinks. About Russia, I will try to cook Bliny; this is one of Russian traditional breakfast. It looks sweet, but I do not know yet. Then, about Japanese traditional breakfast, I do not want to tell you now. It is secret! I am going to take some pictures of dishes when I am cooking and when I finished. However, I guess I will need my mother’s help sometimes because I am not good cooker. But, I will do my best. For one of my article, I would like to capture an image of how to make it.
